The Hooks is a series of explorations that the artist approaches different kinds of art forms such as contemporary dance, performance art, and video art. The Hooks focuses on finding a connection between body and clothing hangers, and the transformation of their functions into artwork.
For Chung, clothing hangers are familiar in everyday life that people have created and given them certain functions. But here, the clothing hangers are arranged to become an integral part of the work with new perspectives on their existence. In the process of minimizing the movements of the body, through interaction with the hooks, the artist is in search of a new transformative space. So, how does that existence that exists in a narrow but close distance between humans and objects become?
In Ether, Chung presented the previous work The Hooks: No.1, but in the form of performance art to find the contrast between the artist's body and a-300 clothing hangers in the space that was suspended on the rooftop of the apartment building. The artist tried on one by one until the body turned red, and stopped when couldn't wear any more hangers.
