Southeast Asian Diasporic Artists Melbourne (SEADAM)
SEADAM is an artist-initiated social gathering for Southeast Asian diasporic artists based in Naarm/Melbourne and visiting artists from the region, alongside guest artists whose practices are in dialogue with Southeast Asian contexts.
Recognising the challenges SEA diasporic artists face in navigating the art industry, this group creates a welcoming space for SEA diasporic artists from diverse migration journeys and disciplines to connect, share their lived experience, knowledge, ideas, and resources.
Gathering monthly, each session features 1 to 2 artists sharing informally about their creative practice, through modes including movement, discussion, video, writing, eating, and resting.
SEADAM is hosted by Somatic Arts in the art precinct of Collingwood Yard.
The gathering is by invitation through artists’ networks — if you are keen to participate, please contact us at sea.diaspora.melb@gmail.com
