Southeast Asian Diasporic Artists Melbourne (SEADAM) is an artist-led social and art gathering in Naarm/Melbourne, centred on artists with Southeast Asian heritage — including those visiting from the region — curated by Chung Nguyen in collaboration with artist peers. It also welcomes guest artists whose practices are in dialogue with Southeast Asian contexts.

Recognising a lack of dedicated space and a growing desire for connection, this group creates a welcoming community where SEA diasporic artists based in Naarm — spanning all migration journeys, from new migrants to those born in Australia, and diverse cultural practices and disciplines — can connect, share lived experiences, knowledge, ideas, and resources.

Meeting monthly, each session invites one to two artists to share informally about their creative practice through varied modes — from movement and discussion to video, writing, eating, and resting.

SEADAM is hosted by Somatic Arts in the art precinct of Collingwood Yard, on Wurundjeri Country.
